Community Involvement
The Maffra Fire Brigade has a long history of community involvement. Some of the community activities we are involved in are:
Group Visits:
Murray Goulburn
Department of Natural Resources and Environment
Guides
Scouts
George Gray Centre (Facility for the disabled)
Maffra District Hospital
Kindergartens
Maffra Primary schools
Maffra Secondary College
When we attend these groups we provide information, instruction and if requested we provide a vehicle for the people to look over.
We also provide fire protection for the Maffra Show, during the smash up derby and fireworks displays.
Every year the brigade enters the vehicles in the Maffra Mardi Gras street parade, along with the local ambulance, police and SES.
Maffra fire brigade also provides community education, in the form of our smoke alarm education program, and we actively support Sale Fire Brigade's chimney fire education program. For more information on community education, Click here to go to the CFA's corporate page.
Since 1989, the Maffra Fire Brigade has organised and collected for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal, helping to raise substantial amounts of money for this very worthwhile cause.
